Within activity 5 of WP3 of the EERES4WATER project, ITC leads the “Transnational Service on Innovative Energy and Water technologies (SIEW)” in collaboration with other project partners as Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), University of Seville, Cardiff University and University of Evora.
This services portfolio is focused on the following fields of action: desalinated water-energy (WE) nexus, emerging technologies in desalination, energy audit and verification services for water treatment processes, use of solar energy for AARR treatment, PV solar pumping, thermal solar collectors for desalination, hydro-environmental modeling, real-time water quality and advisory services on financing R&D&i in relation to the WE nexus.
ITC together with CTA launched on 15th of September 2021 an open call for the reception of services requests (https://www.eeres4water.eu/open-call/). An application form was drawn up indicating both the eligibility and the evaluation criteria for the call. This form was uploaded to the project website and the call remained open until 31st of October 2021.
Within the SIEW open call a total of six service requests were received, which were duly evaluated following the evaluation criteria reflected in the application form, 3 evaluation criteria were considered: excellence, impact and quality and efficiency of the execution. The service request topics in order of highest to lowest score were as follows:
-
- Innovative Zero and Minimum Liquid Discharge (ZLD and MLD) systems driven by waste heat.
- Sustainable water treatments of mining industry.
- Water/energy/food Nexus.
- Emergent technologies.
- Innovative RO configurations.
Within the framework of the project, the commitment was to carry out three services free of charge. In the end, five of the six service requests received will be implemented, one service demand was discarded as it was submitted after the deadline.
EERES4WATER project is co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
