A delegation led by Ibn Zohr University, from Agadir, visited during the month of April the facilities of the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC) in Pozo Izquierdo, Gran Canaria, as part of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both institutions. During this official visit, which was received by the Regional Minister of Universities, Science and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, and the CEO of the ITC, Guayarmina Peña, technical staff from the DESAL+ Living Lab had the opportunity to present the development of projects and active initiatives within the platform’s environment. Among them, a specific session was highlighted to present the IDIWATER Acceleration Programme. This programme opens a pathway to boosting ideas, projects, and solutions related to the water sector through the transfer of knowledge between the DESAL+ Living Lab and SMEs, start-ups, spin-offs, and researchers from around the world, especially from Macaronesia and nearby regions. In addition, the Moroccan delegation was also able to visit the ITC facilities in Pozo Izquierdo, gaining first-hand knowledge of successful infrastructures such as DESALRO 2.0, developed within the DESAL+ Living Lab platform, as well as the area belonging to the high-tech incubator IAT BIOASIS. This collaboration is framed within the Canary Islands–Africa Strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands, which aims to strengthen the role of knowledge, science, and innovation as tools to generate shared opportunities between neighboring territories.
