Within the EERES4WATER project ITC is working on the water-energy (WE) nexus analysis using the Quantitative Story-Telling (QST) approach for improved policy making.
The idea is to make good and bad practices visible in relation to the WE nexus. A theoretical study will be carried out to assess the WE nexus in the eight chosen regions: Canarias (Spain), Andalucía (Spain), Centro (Portugal), Alentejo (Portugal), Bretagne (France), Southern and Eastern (Ireland), West Wales (UK).
In order to fulfil this, information related to WE nexus will be needed from partners to catch the local and regional dimension. Information about current technologies, stakeholders, consumption and patterns will be gathered.
Value chains will also be identified, especially those involving SMEs. Through interviews, the narratives will be elaborated, and conclusions will be drawn, following the QST method, to address evidence-based policy.
ERES4WATER project (Water-Energy nexus strategy approach: direct renewable energy use and high-energy efficiency) will enhance the institutional, technical and social framework to promote the direct use of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy efficiency in water cycle by influencing related policies and introduction of new processes and technologies. These improvements will bring the Atlantic Area to the forefront of strategies, policies and utilization of RES and energy efficiency as well as sustainability. These are fundamental of resource efficiency for the Energy-Water nexus.
ERES4WATER project is co-funded by Interreg Atlantic Area Transnational Cooperation Programme. More information: https://www.eeres4water.eu
