A researcher from the INGEMAR group at the University of La Laguna, Prof. Nicolás Marichal, carried out an academic research stay at the Department of Computer Science of the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro from February 23 to March 4, 2026.
The objective was to strengthen joint research activities and expand international cooperation within the framework of the IDIWATER Project.
During the visit, several working meetings were held with Prof. Corrado Mencar, Ciro Castiello, and Gabriella Casalino to identify shared research interests and advance the preparation of a collaborative proposal for the European Widening Twinning call for proposals. Discussions also focused on promoting academic mobility opportunities and institutional cooperation between both universities at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels.
The agenda additionally included the development of joint research activities and the delivery of a seminar on the IDIWATER Project within the doctoral program of the Department of Computer Science at the Italian university, fostering scientific exchange with researchers and PhD candidates.
The visit contributed to consolidating a long-term collaboration framework between both institutions, reinforcing the internationalization of research and promoting new European initiatives in the fields of computer science and water-related technologies.
This action was supported by the IDIWATER project, co-financed (85%) by ERDF funds under the Interreg MAC 2021–2027 Programme and integrated within the DESAL+ Living Lab Platform.
